Women's Quest News - Late Summer 2011
Newsletter Created On: 29/08/2011 10:51:55

We hope this finds you well and catching those last warm rays of sunlight as we come to the end of summer in the Northern Hemipshere, while those of you on the other side of the world will be tasting an awakening to Spring.
We are starting to feel that there is zeitgeist shift going on with the menstrual work. Our community grows.  We had the most fantastic screening of Moon Inside You at the Brighton Fringe Festival thanks to the amazing Mooncup ( who organised the event. It was a sellout with over 200 people there. Diana, the director, came over and afterwards we had a very lively Q&A. The most touching part was seeing young girls, who had come with their mums, walking out looking so excited, like they’d been let into the coolest club. They had of course!  For those of you in Australia – or more precisely Sydney and Melbourne – there are going to be screenings of the film, check the details below.
We ran our first workshop on creativity and the menstrual cycle in Brighton and tried out a new exercise for harnessing the cycles creative powers, which worked really well. Woman had revelations on their strengths and vulnerabilities, and what facet of the cycle they needed to pay more attention to in order to fulfil their creative potential.
Our big project is the launch of the first ever training in this work, The Women’s Quest Apprenticeship, at the beginning of September. Almost 30 years in the brewing, we reckon it’s going to be pretty potent with 16 women from 5 different countries coming together to co-evolve this program.
In this newsletter you will find information about workshops coming up in Italy, London and Doncaster. There’s information about translations of The Pill: are you sure it’s for you? and a new translation of an eBook.
We also have a place on our website to add women’s healing stories. We hear such good ones that we wanted to share. If you have a good healing story do let us know. We can’t tell you how helpful it can be for other women to read.
We are often in need of photographs and pictures for our website and flyers. If you are a photographer or artist and have any menstrually orientated pictures that you would be happy to share with us please do, we’d be most grateful.
We've got some very exciting plans in the making for next year which we will tell you about soon. Among these plans, Sjanie is cooking ideas for sharing the Womens Quest in her homeland, South Africa. She'll be there early next year, so if you are in SA or know anyone who may be interested please get in touch with her
In November, Sjanie will be starting her new online training programme for therapists who want to learn more about hypnosis and mind-body approaches for fertility. For more information see below
As ever, we’d be very grateful if you could spread our news.

Wonderfully, the training is full. We have women attending from France, Poland, Italy, Spain and Ireland and of course from different points in UK. We also have had enquiries from South America and Africa but the cost was prohibitive. We do need in the long term to be able to create a fund to support such women coming. This training will be a yearly event so for those of you who have missed out there will be many more chances.

Community Site

We've been making changes to the community site to make it more user friendly. Do
log in and add your voice. There have been some nice discussions and most recently one on menopause. If you are not a member yet let us know and we can send you an invite. And if you know anything about Ning and would like to get involved with managing/developing the site we would love your help!
Books and eBooks
Big thank you to Danielle Mendes Sales for translating From Pain to Power eBook into Portuguese, and recently Alexandra met a Czech woman in Dublin who has offered to translate Menstrual Cycle Awareness eBook into Czech of course.
And huge thank you to Zen Vitarah for writing a lengthy article on the menstrual work for the woman’s magazine of a Slovene daily newspaper. From that came a publisher for The Pill. There has been a subsequent article and another in pipeline on the dangers of the Pill. Macro Edizione are publishing The Pill this September in Italy and have also got the rights for France, so we hope that will be out soon as well.
The Fertile Body Method Online Training Programme
The new online training programme is for hypnotherapists, counsellors and other therapists who want to use mind-body approaches to help couples conceive and have a baby. The aim of the course is to give therapists a range of mind-body techniques and a well-structured therapeutic framework within which these tools can be used effectively. The course is developed and taught by Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer, author of 'The Fertile Body Method: Practitioner's Manual' (Crownhouse, 2009)

Programmes for girls and their parents in 2012: Jane Bennett, author of A Blessing Not a Curse: a mother daughter (a guide for mums to help their daughters through puberty) and my co-author of The Pill: are you sure it’s for you?, is coming to Europe in Autumn 2012. She is an expert in working with girls and women on the issue of puberty, adolescence and natural fertility management and would love to run workshops while she is here. For those of you with daughters or who are interested in preparing girls for puberty Jane is your person – she’s had many years of experience and is a wonderful teacher. If you are interested in workshops do get in touch with Jane at
She’s has also just produced a great new set of cards for girls called Girltopia. Check them out
www.theredboxcompany.comthere’s a new kid on the menstrual block, a fabulous new business, The Red Box Company, that is celebrating menarche and menstruation.
They have beautiful gift boxes to celebrate a girl’s first period, as well as selling Shushann Movsessian’s best seller Puberty Girl, the must–have–book for any girl approaching menarche. is a gynaecological medical practice in South West London run by Dr Trevor Wing that only uses natural remedies.
His clinic offers instruction in fertility awareness and will also fit a diaphragm for you. It’s rare to find a doctor who is actively against hormonal contraception and offering viable alternatives. This clinic is quite a find.
Womb Yoga – do check out this deeply nourishing, restorative yoga taught by Uma Dinsmore Tuli. We think it’s pretty special and a natural companion to the menstrual work. She has regular classes in London, Bristol and Stroud.

Warmest blessings,
Alexandra and Sjanie
